Backpacking Trip into Tuck and Robins Lake in the Central Cascades. August 2023. Per Mr. Bruce, one of the smallest Troop Crews ever put together. Just two scouts.

The first day, the boys backpacked into Tuck lake. An easy four miles up the Hyas valley, until climbing up a "fisherman's" trail to Tuck late 2000 feet above the valley.  After arriving at the lake and setting up their hammocks, everyone went down to the lake for a swim or quick wash.  The boys swam out to the lake, and basked like seals on the rocks, while the adults washed the trail dust off.

It was good a good thing that we go an early start, as groups of backpackers kept arriving all afternoon, and by evening there were no campsites left around the lake.

The weather was great, and the sunset over Cathedral Rock was spectacular.

A good night's rest, and on the second day, the boys climbed/scrambled up the ridges behind Tuck Lake to reach Robins Lakes for lunch.  Robins Lakes are two small lakes tucked back into a cirque.  Very few trees up at Robins lakes, and there was still snow in the shadows around the lakes.  The crew ate lunch along the shoreline watching the trout cruise the shoreline looking for a meal in the crystal clear water.

The the trip back town to Tuck Lake for dinner, was a scramble down was a little rocky at points, as the boys decided to take a different path back.  Once back at Tuck, everyone hit the water again, with the whole crew swimming out the Island in they very brisk alpine waters.

We were awarded with another beautiful sunset, and clear night.

The second morning was a quick breakfast, packup and back down to the car by noon.  Overall, an excellent trip!
